This footage was taken throughout the 2009 season
here in Ha'apai which proved to be highly rewarding
with particularly two mother and calf pairs becoming
increasingly confident. Not only did they allow
us to observe them, they were also very interested
in the boat and the snorkelers and often came
closer themselves to get a good look at us.
About
the whale song Thanks to our hydrophone
(the only one in Ha'apai) we are in the position
to offer guests a special experience and listen
to adult Humpback Whales singing or mothers teaching
their calves how to communicate. We regularly
record these songs in order to find out about
changes or differences in between them.
