The 2011 season here in Ha'apai rewarded us with
incredible encounters with Humpback Whales, dolphins,
Manta Rays and even a Dwarf Minke Whale. We swam
with curious calves and relaxed mums, inquisitive
subadults doing headstands, amorous couples and
for the first time filmed a calf getting ready
for a breach over and underwater. All in all an
energetic, fun-filled year with memories to last.
About
this video
2010 was a fantastic year with the whales for
us. We have learned a lot about their behavioiur
and had magical moments on and in the water with
them. From the first time witnessing two calves
playing together, a subadult showing playful behaviour
with a palm frond and powerful heatrushs to a
calf chasing after the boat and close visits from
curious babies this year had a lot on offer. We
hope you enjoy our video!

This footage was taken throughout the 2009 season
here in Ha'apai which proved to be highly rewarding
with particularly two mother and calf pairs becoming
increasingly confident. Not only did they allow
us to observe them, they were also very interested
in the boat and the snorkelers and often came
closer themselves to get a good look at us.
About
the whale song Thanks
to our hydrophone we are in the position to offer
guests a special experience and listen to adult
Humpback Whales singing or mothers teaching their
calves how to communicate. We regularly record
these songs in order to find out about changes
or differences in between them.
