Accommodation on Lifuka

There are a few basic and very affordable guesthouses in and around Pangai, starting from T$15 per night:

Langilangi (Fanongovainga) Guesthouse has 7 well-presented rooms and is a five minute walk from town. Rates: Single T$15, Double T$25, 2 Triples (1 double+1 single bed or 3 single beds) for T$45 available. Shared facilities with cold water. All rooms are clean, have fans and power points. Special offer: Stay 7, pay 6. There is a spacious lounge area and a kitchen for self catering (T$3 per day). Breakfast and lunch cost T$8 each, dinner is T$15 (T$30 for lobster). Airport pick up for T$5 and T$3 from the wharf.
The guesthouse is affiliated with the WID Handicraft Centre and, for a small charge of T$8, you can make your own souvenirs during your stay. The owner, Langi Langi is very happy to provide uncommon insight into Tongan culture. Phone: 60038

Evaloni Guesthouse is a two minute walk from the centre of Pangai and has 8 clean rooms. Rates: Double T$25 (shared facilities), 2 airy ensuites for T$75 with fridge available. Cold water only. All rooms have mosquito nets, fans and power points. Extra person in room T$20, kids under 12 stay free. Longterm stay discounts negotiable. Breakfast is T$15, dinner T$25. Fifita´s Guesthouse is located right in the centre above Mariner´s Café and has 7 quaint but clean rooms. Rates: Single T$30, Double T$45 (both with shared facilities, hot water); 1 ensuite for T$65 (cold water). All rooms have mosquito nets, fans are available on request. Breakfast is included, dinner is T$15. The communal kitchen is free to use. Every room comes supplied with a bible. Phone: 60213

Lindsay Guesthouse is a ten minute walk from the centre and has 12 quaint, but reasonably clean rooms. Rates: Single T$30, Double T$40, 1 Triple (1 double+1 single bed) T$50 (all with shared facilities). Rooms with ensuites: Double T$60, 1 Triple T$70. Currently cold water only. All rooms have powerpoints. Mosquito nets and fans are available on request. Longterm stay discounts negotiable. Breakfast is included, lunch costs T$8. Dinner is not served, but the communal kitchen is free to use and there´s a bakery next door. The big sitting area and airy veranda create good relaxing spots. Phone: 60667

Billy´s Place is a little out of Pangai, located in a banana plantation on the wild East coast of Lifuka. No problem though as bikes are free for guests. Pure isolation with a great beach come at a cost as water and electricity are intermittent. Rates: Single T$55, Double T$75. Shared facilities with cold water, if available. Mele Tonga Guesthouse is a long way out of town, close to the airport. There are assorted rooms, none have power points, no mosquito nets and water is intermittent. This guest house is in visible need of repair. Rates: Rooms are around T$25. Breakfast is T$10, lunch is T$12 and dinner is $25. Phone: 8791686
